Challenge
Long-accepted LGBTQ+ labels face the threat of extinction following legislation that restricts schools from teaching children about sexual orientation or gender identity. How can Digitas help use design as a force for progress in this space?
Insight
Movements such as #SayGay paved the way for de-censoring conversations around labels within the LGBTQ+ community and widened the lens to celebrate all LGBTQ+ members and allies.
Digitas collaborated with 24 queer and LGBTQ+ ally artists to create “Can’t Quiet Pride,” a set of designs that represented the many identities across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, available both as digital stickers for social media and physical stickers for Pride celebrations.
The campaign provided a platform for well-known and rising artists who are a part of or support the queer community to develop a sticker that aligns with an identity of their choosing. The result was an eclectic collection of 36 shareable works proudly featuring words such as “Gay,” “Intersex,” “Questioning,” “Ally” and more. Using design thinking as a force for progress, “Can’t Quiet Pride” helps everyone speak up and speak out about important LGBTQ+ conversations.
